To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions… - What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Right now I'm reading A Thread of Deepest Black by Finn Marlowe. Colton and Killian are mortal enemies but when Colton comes to Killian for a huge favor he can't help but say yes. However, the conditions he puts on his help are more than Colton bargained for. I like both guys and their interactions. I'm only about a fifth of the way in but so far I'm enjoying it. It's only barely begun but I can tell it's going to be a pretty hot story. Hope the sex doesn't overshadow the story though. My only quibble so far is I'm still not sure exactly what kind of shifter Colton is and just why they're mortal enemies.
I just finished reading Too Soon for Love by Kimberly Gardner and really enjoyed it. Michael is a blind man who has to adapt to life on his own after the unexpected death of Phillip, his lover of over twelve years. As he tries to deal with his lover's family and his own need for independence he turns to Alan, the nurses aid who helped them at the end. Alan has been attracted to Michael since he first saw him and as they become friends his feelings deepen. Then he discovers Phillip was cheating and has to figure out wether to tell Michael the truth or let it go. Of course it wouldn't be a story without misunderstandings, hurt feelings and someone getting in the way of the lovers so... it takes Michael and Alan a bit to get to their HEA but it's well worth it when they do. There was a sad little side story that didn't do much for the overall book except make me mad/sad but otherwise this was a very nice read.
Next I think I'll read The Painting by F.K. (Fiona) Wallace. I saw the review for this at Wave's a couple of days ago and then read the first few chapter's at Smashwords right away. The story deals with lovers during World War II in Germany and then goes thru decades more until, I was assured when reading the review, it reaches "an absolutely perfect ending." I was really swept up in Stefan and Gunter's story while reading the free chapters. Check it out here if you;re interested.
So what have you been reading and what are you looking forward to next?

I enjoyed the Kimberly Gardner one, haven't read the others, but I don't think the historical is for me.
I am currently reading Warrior's Cross by Urban and Roux which is the oldest book in my TBR. Not sure why I finally decided to read it. It's a waiter and a mysterious man who comes to his restaurant once a week for months. I think the guys's an assassin or something nasty. Not sure yet.
I finished ... Probably Story of Scars by K.R. Foster. It's about a cop who has to retire when he's shot and maybe it's a chance to have a relationship with the bartender he's been dancing around for 10 years. It's one of the Daily Dose from DSP and I'll be reviewing it in a few days. Or soon. I can't remember.
Up next is Bear Like Me by Jonathan Cohen. I promised to review it and it's about a man who loses his journalism job and is convinced by a friend to do an expose on the bear community by becoming one and how that changes his life. It's not all serious though.
I'm reading The Colors of Love and Autumn by Lee Pulaski. It's about a guy who has been through a bad breakup. He moves to a small town and meets someone. I'm only on page 46, but the dialogue seems false to me. I'm having trouble getting into it.
Lily, how cool you're doing this again! I recently finished two mm: AJ's Angel by LA Witt (dark but hot) and Jump First by Charles Edward (funny).
I'm currently reading mm The Cranberry Hush by Ben Monopoli. Almost done. Really outstanding sense of post-college aimlessness and loneliness. Great specific setting (Boston, Cape Cod).
Also reading non-mm The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara. I'd avoided it for a long time because it's about the Battle of Gettysburg, and we all know that's going to be a downer no matter what side you identify with. However, it's beautifully written and very interesting. I really get a sense of the personalities involved.
To read next, I'm not sure.
I liked Thread of Deepest Black. I have the Kimberly Gardner, but haven't read it yet. Not big on historicals...
Tam: I need to read Bear Like Me for the same reason! :)
I'm sort of at loose ends right now, readingwise. I have stuff I have to read for review, etc, which always kills my reading. I should know better.
Tam, I enjoyed Warrior's Cross although not as much as the Cut and Run series or Zero at the Bone. It's along those lines.
I haven't heard of the other two so I"m looking forward to your thoughts on them.
Eyre, I read the Colors of Love when it came out. It was okay, dragged a bit if I remember correctly.
Val, I read and liked AJ's Angel as well but haven't heard of the others.
Chris, historicals aren't my favorite but I've decided in the past few months to break out a bit from my normal "safe" choices. I've read a few stories I normally would have passed up and enjoyed them. Hopefully this one will work for me as well.
Hi, Lily!
Just DNF'd a book called Where the Boys Are. It's "mainstream" m/m, if there is such a thing, and hugely disappointing.
I'm in the process of finishing Rick Reed's A Demon Inside. Can't live without a regular dose of spookiness!
Next up is a book Chris recommended -- Knight Errant (this will take me a while to read on my desktop) -- and another m/m trade paperback titled The Tricky Part, which I got for TEN CENTS on Amazon!
I hate when that happens. Hope your next read is wonderful!!
KZ, I've read a few of Rick's books and yes, he sure is good with spookiness.
