One paragraph reviews... times ten!

Promises by Marie Sexton
Get it at Dreamspinner Press
Contemporary/Novel

A wonderfully written 'friends to lovers' theme, interesting and well drawn characters and the emotional impact of falling in love in the 'fish bowl' atmosphere of a small town made this a highly entertaining story. I really liked the protags, the supporting casts is interesting and the fact that the relationship spanned about a year and wasn't rushed as often happens added to my enjoyment.

Seducing Stephen by Bonnie Dee & Summer Devon
Get it at Loose Id
Historical/Extended Novella

This was a really nice Historical about an older rake and the virginal young man that captures his heart. I liked both Peter and Stephen and was engaged throughout in their romance. The authors did a good job with the different themes in the story, such as age, class, family duty and the bit of angst from Peter's past was also well done. Very nice!

The Delaneys and Me by Anne Brooke
Get it at Amber Allure
ContemporaryMenage (m/m/m/)/Novella

A fun and entertaining story about a young man who discovers that sometimes the 'crime' is worth the 'time'. When he mouths off and is made to choose between physical pain or a night of sex with the Delaney twins as his punishment Liam is in for a naughty night he won't soon forget. This short story features well drawn characters, solid writing and some really sexy scenes.

The Manny by Sara Bell
Get it at Torquere Books
Contemporary/Novella

This short story features the always fun to read opposites attracts and adds in a cute baby for a double whammy of entertainment. AJ and Tate are likable protags each with his own issues to deal with and despite not getting along in the beginning Tate is quick to help out AJ. Feelings develop, misunderstands occur and there is some sweet baby loving going on as well. Sweet, sexy and engaging this short story is one I'd love to read a sequel to.

Timing by Mary Calmes
Get it at Dreamspinner Press
Contemporary/Novel

Entertaining escapism from beginning to end. A seemingly perfect, beautiful protag that everyone loves and a handsome and sexy Alpha male... these two seem to hate each other but we all know it's a fine line between love and hate. Nice set of supporting characters, strong humorous writing and some hot sex scenes are slightly marred by a shake suspense/mystery element. Despite that this was quite an enjoyable story.

Toy Box: Submission by Sean Michael
Get it at Torquere Books
Short story anthology/BDSM

Three quick, sexy and entertaining stories featuring couples from the Hammer world. Although all three of the stories feature established couples it's not necessary to have read the other books in the Hammer series to enjoy this collection.

Black Point by AJ LLewellyn & DJ Manly
Get it at eXtasy Books
Contemporary/Novel

The premise for this first book in the Black Point series drew me in but ultimately didn't quite measure up to my expectations. I liked the protags well enough but never formed any real connection to them. I also didn't like the side story of the brother and his marital problems and found their scene in the car as they drove down a busy street in Hawaii totally over the top. Despite that I did for the most part enjoy the story and will be reading the other four books at some point.

Self Preservation by Ethan Day
Get it at Loose Id
Contemporary/Novella

This was a fun story along the theme of My Best Friend's Wedding. Nice protags and lots of humor are featured alongside a bit of 'lost love' angst. At times however I wanted to smack one of the characters and tell him to stop with the whining and I didn't feel the connection between the main love interests. Some more focus on them would really have made this a more interesting and entertaining story.

Topping Timothy by Erin O'Niall
Get it at Fictionwise
Contemporary/BDSM/Novella

Nice story about a man who's sure he's a Top discovering the joys of being a strong Dom's sub. Features solid writing, interesting protags, hot sex scenes and well done BDSM. However the book itself is a bit marred by a really unattractive cover.

2050 by Mychael Black & Shayne Carmichael
Get it at Phaze
Futuristic/Mystery/Suspense/Novel

A psychic and a police detective meet on a serial killer case. The story starts off really interesting but falls apart in the second half. The resolution of the killer was a let down and then replaced with a new paranormal problem that didn't make much sense. The protags are nice and once they admit their feelings it's all 'lovey dovey' with lots of sex and a few emotional tears. Nice story that unfortunately didn't live up to it's promise.

Great 1-paragraph reviews!

And yeah, totally agree with you on the Topping Timothy cover. Though I'd probably look that unhappy if my hair was that bad. lol

Great job Lily and I too think that cover needs some help. Does Timothy at least HAVE long blond hair?

I agree with your assessments of the ones I've read. I've not read some of the ones near the bottom of the list.

Thanks, Ava! :)

Yeah, that cover just doesn't look appealing at all.

Thanks, Tam :)

I don't remember him having hair like that.

You know I love reviewettes. :D I've read five of those. I have Timing on my reader. And the cover of Topping Timothy keeps preventing me from buying it - even though I'll never see the cover on my ereader. Silly, but there it is.

Great succinct little reviews, Lily! I'm trying to keep to this kind of format myself and it's way harder than it looks. I agree with you 100% on 2050, and I remain in awe of how much you managed to read!

Nice reviews. The Delaney's and Me sounds especially good.

I know what you mean about the cover, Chris. I only bought it because I found it on sale a while back. The cheap price made the cover bearable, lol. :)

Thanks, Val :)

It was hard to keep it small but I've got so many to review that I have to find a way get through them.

2050 was disappointing. :(

Thanks, Miranda! :)

The Delaney's was a really fun story.
